Hello again:

At Sunrise

At sunrise
Tiny drops of condensation
Along the roof's edge
Explode
Into expanding wetness
As they strike the concrete
Below the porch.
The morning's
Dusty blanket of dew
Forms thousands of
Azurite crystals
Across the banana spider's web,
Strung precariously between
Two orange trees.

The spider
With long silky legs
Tunes her deadly instrument,
Tightening each strand,
Dislodging a misty hue of colors
Onto the thirsty fauna below.

On a lower branch
A June Bug stretches tiny wings,
Preparing to hurl itself into
Flight's chance realm,
Mindful of the web.

Sitting on my porch,
With cat's eyes,
I survey boundaries.

Brittle air awakens
Breathless remembrances;
Other hunts.
Once again I must leap
Onto the new day,
Claws dug in,
Fangs extended,
Tearing out pieces of flesh
From the good earth
With that ferocity
It takes to survive,
But always
Mindful of the web.
