Hi! I have never written in this message area before, but it looks pretty cool. (Plus I write poetry, so, you know...) Anyway, I have been writing poetry seriously for not even quite a year now. I've liked to write ever since I picked up a paper and pencil for the first time. Anyway, here is a poem I wrote about a week ago, and it's about computers so I thought it would be appropriate to post. And don't be too harsh; I'm only 15! Computer Folly It beckons. Silently it screams at you, "Help me. Please? Just... touch me." It won't hurt you. It wants you. "Just press that little red button." Power. Surging power. A single flashing dash in a sea of darkness, and then- Letters. Words. Sentences. A prompt. You caress it lightly, telling it what to do, but now the tables are turned. It no longer needs you. You need it. 0010100010110100011101: meaningless. It can translate. It doesn't need you. Information, data, binary code. It is worthless, but priceless at the same time. It controls you- what you hear, what you see, what you think. Hardware, software, modem, peripheral, com port, Money, bank transactions, national security, FBI, CIA, NSA; One frayed wire. One wrong button. One loose screw. All data...Gone. All information...Gone. All government...Gone. All money...Gone. No poor. No rich. All equal. Lives based on something that doesn't exist, and then it is taken away; The only result is anarchy. -Jason Thomale --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: AuthorsNet[tm]--Palindrome--214/437-2734 (1:124/8107) |
