 I had the same type of problem with First Aid for Windows 3.x.  Once I got
 rid of First Aid, my problems stopped.

I still have First-Aid running. It's either stopped working, or I have no
problems. I used to have it showing up all the time, fixing errors! I figured
that CLEEN-SWEEP was the cause of all my problems. Even with the upgrade
patch, it killed almost everything I had running.
CLEEN-SWEEP hates Norton Navigator, and Chamelion. Perhaps others, but these 2
are known facts.
