The thing with USR T/S, I find odd. I have only had to call T/S once in the 3
years I have owned my USR 14.4 Sportster FaxModem. I was online with a Tech
in 10 minutes and had my problem resolved in 15 minutes, AND my modem ran
better than it had originally. Technical Support for any computer product is
a hard job. You have to battle not only Computer Illiteracy but Actual
Iliteracy. You have to be part psychaitrist to calm some people down so you
can actually fix they're computer. You get to repeat instructions up to six
times some times having to back-track because the customer wasn't listening
to the Technician. Just because some has the Job Title: Technician, Does not
mean Magician or Miracle worker. If Software isn't working or hardware fails,
it is not the Technician's Fault. He/She is doing everything they can think
of to fix your computer. BTW, I am a Techical Support Technician for LARGE
Computer Company. Basically, Try and keep in mind there is a Human Being on
the end of that phone that gets little to no sleep, lives on Mountain
Dew/Caffiene, works 10 hour shifts to make sure there is someone answering at
Tech Support at 3 am in the morning as your Windows 95 goes beserk because
the DOS game you were installing just ate your computer and won't give it
back. Techs are like Vietnam Vets in one way. They both share a saying.
"We the Unwilling, Led by the Incompetent, Doing the impossible, for the
Ungrateful.". Just showing it from the other side of the phone.
