Re: Zip > I have Win 3.1 and PkZip. I know how to UNZIP files but I have no clue how to > ZIP files. Well, if anybody knows anything please tell me. First it is best to have the files you wish to zip in the own special dir. Make sure there are no files in that dir that you do nt want included. Then decide the new zip fi;e name. Lets say form explanaion purposes you want the file to be called Kaosgame.zip and it is in the dir called C:\oldgame. Your command line should be like this: PKZIP KAOSGAME.zip C:\oldgame\*.* The finished product will show up in the C:\oldgame dir as Kaosgame.zip and then you can move it to your uplaod dir to trsnfer it to Darksword. Any file you zip up for tranfer to a bbs should have a file called FILE_ID.DIZ which tells all about the file with info such as the desription, the version #, and reguiremenst such as VGA or SVGA, Sound card required or supported, needs Win 3.1, disk 3 of 6 and so on. Always try to zip up to the original name whenever possible so that you do not create a file called KaosgamA.zip when it is already here under it's original name of Kaosgam1.zip If the file FILE_ID.DIZ is not included you can create one with any text editor and add it to the group of files before you zip it. just name sure the name is exactly FILE_ID.DIZ or the file processor will not find it. |
