Request Reply Nah... Replying to WIN95 speed... ......[You Previously Konjoured]............ Some people run Win95 without any problems. Others don't. I fall into the "don't" pile. One item is the speed - I read somewhere ( i think on the AP wire) that Win95 turns out to be 20-30 percent slower than Windows 3.11. Could be more Win95 bashing, but I think some of it must be true because frankly, my computer is running way to slow with this thing. I've got a Pentium 100mhz with 8 meg ram and I've encountered a number of "delays," such as when I open the start menu to launch a program. Not much, and nothing fatal, but it is a delay. ......[And 'eres My Prophecy!!!]............ ;-) Unless your delay is several seconds long, it's built in there on purpose! It keeps novice users who are "slow on the mouse" from having dificulty using the start menu. It doesn't really bother me much, but if you want to change the delay, get the Powertools (and specifically TweakUI) from Microsoft. I've seen some other good UI editors that do the same thing. Try that out, it might not be a bug. I however do have one bug-- the first time you pull down your drives menu when saving or opening a file from the standard Win95 save dialog box, there is a distinct delay, but only the first time I do it. After that, all of it is in RAM and works fine. I wonder why? Oh well, if that's the only bug I have to live with.... ;-) -=Nevarre=- |
