Message   Pleasure Slave    All   Add a Cascading Control Panel to Your Start Menu   April 29, 1996
 12:49 AM *

By default, launching a Control Panel applet requires you to go to the Start
button, select Settings, select Control Panel, and then click on the desired
applet. Not only is this a waste of steps, but it also gets quite tiresome if
you use these applets often. Instead, why not simply access the Control Panel
applet directly from the Windows 95 Start menu?

Begin by right-clicking on an empty spot on the Taskbar and then select
Properties from the pop-up menu. Now click on the Start Menu Programs tab in
the Taskbar Properties dialog box. Then click on the Advanced button. This
will open the Start Menu folder, where all the shortcuts and folders for your
Start menu are stored.

Click on the Programs folder in the left pane of the window and then
right-click on an empty spot in the window's right pane. Select New Folder
from the pop-up menu to create a new folder. Give the new folder the
following name, making sure to enter the period between Panel and the
bracket: Control Panel. {21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B 30309D}

After you've renamed the folder, press Enter. The new folder's icon should
look like the Control Panel icon in My Computer. The changed icon tells you
that the modification worked. If it hasn't changed, double-check that you
entered the folder's name exactly as shown in Step A2. Then, check out your
cool new cascading Control Panel menu near the top of Windows 95's Start menu.
