Re: lockups > Re: lockups > EEEAAARRRRCCCHHHH!!!!!!!! (screaming brakes) > not use a Fossil for games? sounds dirty and immoral. What about the ones > that 'require' a fossil be loaded. I have a couple like that but not a lot. > Will they still work in Windows if I don't load a fossil? This sounds like > a new line of thought that I haven't tried yet. > Tome well, if you look at the dates on your Fossil (BNU is about 1990-91 or something), you would find it difficault to believe that a stand alone prgmr 5 yrs ago, could match the R/D that MS has put into it's 3.11 and above Versions. The comm.drv is capable of handle 16650AFN's, therefore ar not lost wehn it comes time to use that 16 bits for task switching. Overall, IMHO, there is no comparison..... Just in My opinion mind you (Not trying to start an arguement here)...... Also, if the game requires the use fo the Fido-Opus-Seadog effort to make modem communications more convenient and actually usable at all.... Load the Fossil before you load the game in the .BAT and then unload it afterward, then make one change in your SYSTEM.INI: Under [NonWindowsApps] add this line: localtsrs=dosedit, ced, bnu That'll do all ya need!
