This is caused by a conflict with 6.14a and BNU. You cannot have BNU active
in any way while VBBS is running. However, you can get it to work (and quite
well, I have 4 nodes running this way) if you just do a little sleight of
batch files...

Here's the start-up for Node 1:

bnu /t:8192 /r:8192 /L:1=57600 /p:1 /Q <- (this can go in autoexec for single
c: node systems)
cd \vbbs
bbs 1

And a sample for Node 1 of L.O.R.D.:

C:
BNU /C
cd \VBBS\DOORS\DRAGON
LORD /pc:\vbbs\temp\n1 /n1
BNU /I1- /Q
c:
cd \vbbs

Basically, the /Q release the 14h vector before VBBS loads and takes control
of it. The /C recaptures the 14h vector as VBBS shrinks out and the door is
run. The door will open the port if it is designed to use a fossil. If not,
no harm done. The /I1- /Q will deactivate the fossil for port 2 (if the door
opened it) and release the 14h vector.

Note that the initial line for starting BNU can be used in your autoexec.bat
only if you are a single node system. Otherwise, a copy of BNU will have to
be loaded for each VBBS node as noted above. This is because BNU cannot
capture/release the 14h vector for a specific port. Also note that each node
will need it's own batch file for each door.

A quick breakdown of the start up line:

/t:8192 sets up a transmit buffer about the size of an ANSI screen
/r:8192 sets up a receive buffer
 /L:1=57600 locks port 1 (comm 2) at 57600
 /p:1 support only one commport
/Q deactivate BNU and release the 14h vector

I have complete batch files for most doors for nodes 0-4. However I am now
using X00, which I have found to be more versatile. But the same concepts
apply...
