The fact is, it is still very much for sale in MANY places.  Just pick up
a copy of Computer Shopper and look in the ad's for some of the discount
software dealers.  There is never an excuse for pirating, it just cost all
the rest of us more.  If it's been sold before, it's still available from
somewhere, you just gotta look for it.
