> > > Libraries are not a form of piracy. > > Neither is loaning someone a copy of QuickBasic. > If that person loaned it permanently it would be. Wrong. I have the License Agreement right in front of me. Both the Canandian, and US license agreements state that you may: "treat the software like any other copyrighted material (eg. a book) except that if the software is not copy protected you may either (a) make one copy of the software solely for backup or archival purposes, or (b) transfer the software to a single hard disk provided that you keep the original solely for backup or archival purposes. You may not copy the product manual(s) or written materials accompanying the software." Therefore, if the software is installed at your friends house, and you do not posess any other copy of the software, then there is nothing wrong with it. Furthermore: "you may not rent or lease the software, but you may transfer your rights under this Microsoft License Agreement on a permanent basis provided you transfer all copies of the software and all written materials, and the recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement." Therefore, if you wish to give your friend your copy of QuickBASIC, it's your right to do so. Basically, they just want only ONE user or computer system to be able to access the program at any given time. /\/ Richard Glidden \/\ --- * The Imperial Sanctum * --- ---[VSB] [ASV] [DM/F!] [G3]--- |
