The WWIV network software handles all of the hardware level connection stuff,
just like it does in the original VWW4.  If you had trouble connecting, you
probably still will.  Your problem is most likely in your modem configuration
for WWIV.  I had trouble too, so I ended up writing my own MODEMS.MDM with
settings taken from my modem's manual.  That fixed it.
