It's a lost cause, dude. It's been a combination of Roland pissing off people
and the Internet grabbing people in hoards. How can a small BBS compete
against the Internet? Before the net got popular, I was doing 80+ calls a day
with 2 nodes. Now I am lucky to get 20, and those are people calling to get
files or send mail to each other and could care less about the message bases.
Why should I bother to continue to be on the net if it isn't getting used?
The message turnaound time is downright pathetic. I think a lot of sysops
have just plain lost interest in their boards. The local bbs scene was great
4 years ago, but I am having a hard time justifying the phone bill every
month. If it weren't for the few paid users I have left, I would have pulled
the plug by now. So if you want to "bring it back to its' glory", good luck
and I wish you the best. The 317 (Indiana) area will be defunct as far as
Vnet goes come the end of October.
