Not sure about the first one, but on the second one: I had the same problem. It only seemed to happen after DSZ/GSZ file transfers, and only on one of my two modems. I hit on the idea of checking the profiles via AT&V and found they were totally scrambled. For some reason, the init string VA was sending wasn't fixing the problem. However, if I shut down the node and restarted it, it reinitialized fine and all was well. The only fix for me was eliminating the possibility of DSZ/GSZ transfers occurring on the questionable modem. I had a temporary fix where the start.v would write cmd?.flg to the appropriate location. I ran the BBS from a batch file which had a CHOICE command which would restart after 15 seconds. Users would still come back to a screenful of garbage sometimes after DSZ/GSZ transfers, but when they logged off, at least the modem got reset by shutting down/restarting. But that wasn't satisfactory to me, so I just give my users VXY now. Works great for downloads, not so great for uploads. All my nets now take place on the non-offending modem, since I dial out for all of them. That way I avoid the iffy VXY recieves (full of errors). BTW, I run with BNU fulltime, two nodes, under Win95 with 2- 14.4's. I don't have any trouble connecting with three different hubs. Thorny thorny@homershut.idir.net Thorny's BBS 2 lines Vadv v.1 DOS/Win95 JayHawkNet @2 Lawrence KS 24 hours VirtualNet @1913003 SnookNet @913000 913-832-2011 DM/F! WebNet @913001 FIDONet @1:299/121 |
