But then, is it not important to allow others to be able to exist unperturbed
as well? An organism tries to achieve immortality... but can't, not as
itself. So it achieves immortality through replicating itself (children),
through its group (it desires to have its own thoughts live on... and so it
tries to cause its group to come a little closer to its reality; isn't that
why debates like this are so much fun?), its species, other forms of life,
etc. The reason it seems admirable to be concerned with the larger picture is
that it IS admirable. What better way to achieve immortality than to have a
permanent effect on the big picture?
