I used to run symantic 10 corporate edition with firewall on my VADV box.  It
would start to use more and more system resources and crash my computer about
every 3 weeks.  I took off symantic and everything works great.  I can run my
vadv system, generally, as long as I want without rebooting.  Symantic and
norton, IMO, are not good to run and cause "odd" problems like you have.
Uninstall norton and I bet everything will work fine :-b
