The key phrase to your whole post is "we as a species." I am a person. I
am NOT a species. Granted, being Indian, I often feel as tho what I do will
reflect on how others view Indians as a whole, but that's a societal issue,
something I can deal with - dealing with the entire human race is beyond MY
capacity. And as such, I see little value in spending time on that whose
importance is only indirectly significant. If evolution isn't perfect, who
cares? It's a functional answer. Everything is based on it. Why change it? If
, excuse me, "and (I can't back up to a previous line, sorry)" this is coming
from a really religious person, too. I totally buy everything science tells
me - heck, I'm a med student. Science is among my best subjex, and yet, at
the same time, I see a place for God in it. And as long as that balance is
maintained, I don't see the value in going beyond that. Some day perhaps I
will, but right now I have some Biology homework due on Tuesday, and that's
the whole world for me right there.
