AA> Correct CHRS info is very useful.

"Very useful" in what context though, thats the question.

Micronet has not (yet) reached the point where we need to encourage its use
because the content of a message absolutely cannot be read by the recipient
unless the codepage is switched in the reader.

The technology of an FTN never took any of these things into account and
neither did the vast majority of BBS software in the 90's. But suddenly... its
a "big deal" to some that you present that kludge otherwise you are Hitler.

You are also Hitler if you do not present MSGID correctly. And the reason is:

AA> Come on.. you can't blame a guy for his passion and excitement for IPv6
AA> and the sudden opening of doors that it implies.

Lol, doors opening. Every time I hear about IPv6 I'm imagining Sheldon Cooper
debating on the criticial differences between Post raisin bran and Kellogs
raisin bran... what a great show that was, the Big bang theory.

There is a difference between having passion/excitement for something, and
cramming that passion/excitement down someone's throat. Thats what Michiel
does with IPv6. If you do not have it, you are a pathetic loser missing out of
some utopian magical fantasy land. And when he resigned from the FTSC, he made
such a big emotional speech as if his dog died or Trump had moved next door.

I see him now proclaiming that Point software is superior to BBS software for
trading messages... really.

He has "no life", just like many others I could mention, Sean could mention,
don't be fooled by their higher education or claims of being a "scientist",
none of that equates to wisdom and respect for your fellow Sysops.

AA> Well... here I must disagree just a little but hopefully not so much as to
AA> tarnish our friendship. ;)

Lol. MSGID/REPLY is a convoluted mess that invents a solution for a problem
that largely did not exist, and began to be promoted for dupe-detection when
other far more reliable systems were (and are) in place.

Kludge lines don't really bother me, its just sad that it bothers some to make
a big federal case out of it. There was someone who restored his Searchlight
system and posted a test message... he was flamed for his "shit software"
because it misused the VIA line or something totally stupid. Pretty sure that
guy cancelled his Fido feed not too soon afterwards.

Nick
