Re: Hyper Text Help > Re: Hyper Text Help > There is a whole doc on hypertext help that explains it. Plus you can downloa > the already made hypertext files off many boards. Heh... You know, way back when I first got Virtual Advanced (back when it had just come out), it took me a while to figure out how to set up the Hypertext files, but I did finally manage to figure it out on my own. Personally I think the internal hypertext thing sucks, as you can't set the keys to what you want them to be (like Q to quit, etc)...it is always a number. When I saw Bigjoe's first post asking about the Hypertext, I went searching myself before I looked at Steve's response...lol... took me a while to find the answer, as I couldn't exactly figure out how it went to each menu, then I used LIST.COM and listed every file in my DATA\ directory until I finally found it (LOOKUP.1). As far as documents that came with VADV, there is nothing except for the single paragraph that says: (In the ADVAUX.EXE section, about 200 lines below the ADVAUX.EXE title) "HELP x Enter the HyperText HELP System (Default Help Files Not Included). x indicates the number of the main help file -- from 0 to 999 -- allowing you to have multiple hypertext systems." Which they didn't mention that the main help file is DATA\LOOKUP.x - So I had started doing my menus way back when... I need to update them, as I have several things in my Hypertext that don't exist anymore (i.e. ChrisNET, Caller ID Verifier, VGA Planets, RAGE Application). But I'd kinda like to just write my own Hypertext script instead - it would be very simple and short. Just making the .MNU files would take most of the time, which would be no different than making the .HLP files.
