Re: you're both right Re: Faith vs reason look guys, you're both right in a way. God is in the hearts of those who wish to believe. these people have every right to believe in something no matter what. after all, i dont see these people slaming you. but however, i think that some of the things in the bible may not be true. you have to consider the fact that when this stuff really happened, these people didnt have the intelligr=ence that we have today. when something would happen that they could not explain, the as far as they were concerned, it was an act of GOD. if that kind of stuff were to happen today, we would be able to figure out how and why it happened. With the aspect that Bill brought up, I am forcd to agree. The bible is continuously contradicting itself. I would like to think of myself as an openminded individual, but when you look back in time to what we have discovered through scientific means and then compare these discoveries to the bible it just doesn't match up. Not only that the bible has alot of orders informing us that we shouldn't do this and we shoulgn't do that, but.... over half of the Saints and believers that are spoken so highly of, we guilty of sins. How was this overlooked? It is claimed that the writers of the bible has taken their information from materials found from that time frame, and from accounts of certain individuals. How then can they not realize that they are contradicting themselves? I would like a closed answer to any of these questions instead of someone telling me that the bible is god's law, and then his followers don't follow them anyway and are still percieved as worthy. |
