Last time, David Brandenburger #214 said this to Stuart Lauderdale #50 @18: DB#> Not true friends. Pain & pleasure are simply viewpoints in DB#> relationship to the individual & their GOAL(s). From a PHYSICAL DB#> standpoint, pain & pleasure are INTERPRETATIONS of "PRESSURE". For DB#> instance in sexuality, B & D - S & M people PERCEIVE "INTENSE PRESSURE" DB#> as pleasurable. One can also TRAIN one's body to have increasing amouts DB#> of PRESSURE as, at least NOT painful and possible as pleasureable. DB#> Also LOVE(ing) can be PAINFUL. My wife is a quadraplegic suffering DB#> from many problems. I perceive PAIN everytime I light her a cigarette & DB#> she smokes it. I have pain every time I have to give her an injection. DB#> I FEEL her nausea when she does. If I didn't love her I would NOT BE DB#> attune to these sensations. DAve B. Pressure, huh? Simple as that? Why does fire give you pain? No pressure there. Why does a bright light hurt your eyes? No pressure there either. Therefore, there has to be a different definition of pain than the one you lay forth. The one you laid out only seems to apply to sex, which is definately your favorite subject. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 |
