 I kind of jumped in there with my response without having followed most
 of the discussion (sorry), so I'm not sure my response will be applicable,
 but here goes...

 I think most people are just trying to find something to help them deal
 with their little corners of the universe.  But a lot of decisions are
 made about what happens in your corner of the universe based on the
 assumption that science (or religion too, for that matter) knows enough
 about the world and how it works.  If that's true, then fine, no problem.
 But if what we know is only a small piece of something bigger, we could
 be making some pretty cosmic mistakes out there that will affect all those
 individual little corners.

 Which certainly won't matter in the long run, but I'm afraid I can't be
 quite that sanguine about my time here, now.

 Again, if I missed the point of the discussion, I apologize.
