Entirely false. LoTR is NOT about fireworks, hot action and battle. Not only,
that is. It's about the Elves, the old and the new, and the nature of things.
If you leave out the "long scenes of walking through the woods" or "edit all
books down to one", you'll be left with nothing but another fantasy-thriller,
kind of like in all those comic books.
