Darth Vader #39 @1416001* wrote to All: DV> Did anyone watch ds9 last night? LESBIAN!!! DV> the person who plays dax must have been paid a lot of money. DV> I suppose a critisism of this intellectual nature could only come from an individual choosing the title "Darth Vader #39" The character of Jadzir Dax is complicated because she is a "joined species" i.e. a host that carries a symbiont being that retains and shares all it's previous host's memories and experiences, both male and female. Actors take on roles that challenge their acting capabilities, and obviously Terry Farrell could have rejected the role in that story if she was homophobic. Dax is therefore in essence bisexual, the Host "Jadzir" may not be ? Who cares ! Have you seen "Star Trek TNG: "The Host" ? This should clear up any confusion in this matter. Are you male ? The pseudonym of Darth Vader and your message intrigues me as an amateur student of psychology. Young girls tend to be very affectionate to each other in school, thus I presume it's fairly easy for actresses to switch off from the social stigmas that males perpetrate. I'm not endorsing Homosexuality, I am as Straight as a laser beam through gravity free vacuum. I just think that people should do what they want, as long as it's not physically forced upon me, I can't stand any form of racial, or sexual predudice that inhibits freedom. Science Fiction is often used by the writers of Star Trek as a tool to distance ourselves from contemporary events, so that we can see them in a fresh light, so that we might be hopefully "enlightened" and more tolerant in the future.
