On 18 Sep 95 19:02:00 Mark Rooney said to Chris Mcdermott ->

 MR> Yo Chris.

Yo-yo Mark, (ermm.. maybe not :)

MR> I haven't been on the boards as much lately, trying to cut down on the
 MR> phone bill.

Me too :(

 MR> You see I only have a 2400 built-in modem.

Oh dear :) I didn't know you could get 2400 built in ones :-\

MR> And my computer is an old portable machine with only two double density
MR> floppy drives. But it's enough to get me connected.

You an get some bargains in the Telegraph on old 386s - do you not have a
Hard Drive ?

 CM> I'm quite a serious (?) role-player - I'm currently Harax
 CM> Linnormbane, a barbarian warrior

MR> Well Mr. Linnormbane I hope you get to kill plenty of orcs.

Orcs, HA! We fearless barbarian warriors (tm) don't bother with paltry orcs,
we need a great wyrm or a couple of daemon lords to slake our ever-lasting
thirst for blood (err... I may have got a bit carried away there :)

CM> I was actually at QCON - there was a Star Trek space battle game

MR> I know the game you're talking about, it's called StarFleet Battles.
MR> I've played in once but wasn't that keen on it. But then that might
MR> just be because I didn't know how to play it properly. I've never
MR> really had the chance to play rpg's, so I don't know if I'd actually
 MR> like them.

I think there may be a Star Trek rpg but I'm not sure about this.

CM> One showed me his pocket calculator/databank which contained several
CM> dozen selected Klingon phrases! :-o

MR> I also know the guy you're talking about. He's a friend of mine
MR> called Denis but he's not as popular as he thinks he is with members
MR> of our Star Trek club. He has burned some bridges.

He's an arsonist then ;)

CM> I have actually missed quite a lot of B5 recently so I'm not too up
CM> to date on what has been happening :(

MR> You missed B5, I couldn't miss an episode, and even if I did then I
MR> always knew someone else who had taped it, so I seen them all. This
MR> is second season I'm talking about. First season wasn't as good as
MR> the second and there were a few a missed in that season.

I saw most of the first season but hardly any of the second :( I'm out
training when B5 is on and my dad had been taping a series that was on at the
same time every week so i was unable to video the episodes :(

CM> I don't suppose you've been watching War of the Worlds?

MR> No. Is it any good? I heard about it starting but I never made an
 MR> effort to watch it.

It's OK but a bit silly sometimes. It's about a ecret government team trying
to counter the aliens' plans to take over the world. It might have been a
bit more credible if the team had consisted of more than 4 people :( There's
usually some violence so that keeps me happy :) I hope it doesn't end when
things become good just like Alien Nation did.

CM> btw - are you fixed in to any other echoes?

MR> through these but I am gonna get more involved especially in the
MR> X-files echo. What about you, what other echoes are you in?

On the Planet I'm in this one, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, Sci-Fi Fantasy and RPG
Discussion, User Chat (NI), Red Chat, Smeg, Role Playing Games and Quiz
Night.

On 42nd Street I take in Friends, X-Files, LORD and Babylon 5.

On Bart I'm on Student Chat, Discussion of Terry Pratchett, Greek Mythology,
UFO and UK/USA Penpals.

Do you use an OLR ?

cya

Chriss...
