It seems to me there are places around the E-D a ship could be and not get hit, like under the engines (away from the aft torp tubes). Star Trek does seem to be going to smaller ships, like the Defiant and the Jem Hadar ships (which also seem to be the most powerful on the show). The problem with Fighters on Star Trek is balancing shields and firepower with manueverability. The shuttles and other small ships have shields and phasers, but seems really unmanueverable and slow. |
