The X-Wings and other ships in Star Wars used Etheric Rudders (yeah, I know)
to control the ships directional movement, thus making them (I know, I know)
grasp the ether<G> of space and gie the craft airplane-like control. I have
never seen a technical expalnation of this, but I have seen the eteric
(oops) etheric rudders shown in tech drawings. In the X-wing game, they are
show as Truster Controls. Go figure.....

That's hilarious.  I haven't heard of anyone invoking the "ether" for at
least 80 years.

All technical absurdities are forgiven, though, for a movie as great as Star
Wars.
