How convenient. So if this Dominion is so powerful as to wipe out an entire
Cardassian war fleet, why aren't they taking a more aggressive stance against
the Federation, ie., attacking them in force?

One of the main problems ST has had, and this goes back even to TNG, is that
the writers have this incredibly bad habit of creating villainous races that
could completely overpower the Federation, and then not letting them do so.
The Borg, for instance; a single Borg battleship had enough firepower to wipe
out almost the entire Federation fleet, and yet since it was destroyed we have
not seen one Borg vessel of any size even approach Federation space. Why not?
Is it not logical that the Collective would be just a tad curious about this
race that stopped their assimilation attempt? Don't they think that perhaps
this race is worth investigating further? Would another assimilation attempt
not be the sensible thing, this time with perhaps two ships?
But since two ships would be completely beyond any ability the Federation has
to stop them, the writers don't bring them in. Obviously, they can't, since it
would mean the end of the ST money machine, but it does the integrity of the
story no good to have these collosal aliens roaming around the galaxy, so
conveniently ignorning the Feds.
Same thing with this Dominion thing. If they're such a fearsome force, why are
they biding their time? Why is such an overpowering race of warriors holding
back?
