* NOW WE MUST QUOTE DAMMIT * Quoting The Lizard King #7 @15190 to Soundwave #1 @1519004*1 TLK#> You'll see better space sequences in next season's Trek franchises. TLK#> I read in the Web that they've finally buckled under and admitted that TLK#> Babylon 5 had it right all along. Computer generated images is the TLK#> way to go. It was starting to get embarrassing how B5 had spectacular TLK#> space action in every other episode with a MUCH lower budget than the TLK#> Trek efforts. TLK#> Now, if they also take the hint and start hiring writers with at least TLK#> the slightest smattering of potential ability they might be able to TLK#> save themselves from extinction. Probably too little, too late. When a show surrenders it's supposed position as a leader, and becomes a follower to another show that it had previously all but ignored, things are bad. (Bringing in cast members from an earlier and more popular show in an effort to bolster things is a pretty desperate move as well.) All these changes have proven to me is that the ST producers are smart enough to realize that action means ratings, and ST fans love Klingons. You and I have been saying that for years. But I don't honestly expect the writing to get much better, and certainly not to approach the quality and intelligence of other sci-fi shows, such as, oh, maybe Babylon 5. They've managed a quick ratings grab by bringing back an old enemy and throwing in some action sequences, but will they be able to carry that through an entire season? Or two seasons? I doubt it. Soundwave ... Locutus for Pontiac: Excitement is irrelevant. --- Blue Wave/QWK v2.10 |
