Re: armada... In the episode to which you are referring, the fighters are being used as training tools for the Star Fleet Academy students. The students are practicing for a particular formation maneuver around Saturn or Jupiter when one of the students was killed. The death is due to the fact that the students were practicing an illegal maneuver that was particularly dangerous. Subsequent to the death of the student, the team leader leid about the death and what the students were really doing. Fortunately Wesley was NOT the leader. He was, however, involved in the lie. The leader was ultimately expelled from the academy. (that actor now plays Tom Paris on Voyager) Wesley was given a letter of repremand and forced into attending SFA for an additional year. The episode introduced Wesley as less than the bright-eyed kid he portrayed in the first few years on NG. For further information, or if anybody has any questions, just let me know.
