I know it's "cheating" but I use a small shareware utility called ATSEND.
I run it from a batchfile named AT.BAT so all I have to do is put a space
after the AT, otherwise I type the string at the dos prompt as I would in
terminal mode from a calling program and it works great, complete with modem
response affirmation.
