[ Here are your words ] > For example, when my PATH got unmanageable early on, I got fed up and > put all by EXE & COM standalones in a C:\E ; Batchfiles in C:\B, etc. Or tr > E! and B! if the single letter directory names make you nervous. It saves a > LOT of space in the PATH. Good luck! Well, with the versatility of 4DOS, my path statement only has 7 directories in it. Maybe he should try that. [ This is my response ] Long path entry's can substantially reduce performance of a DOS machine, especially in a multitasking mode. Strive not for compression of the path, but for consiceness, and you'll achieve a faster, more efficient system. Remember, for each path presented, the system will search thru all the files in each prior to executing the next. *****Merlin***** ================ |
