     That would be helpful; but it sounds like it's just one of those syntax
errors that's being overlooked in the batch language - like a space missing
or stray character, whatever.
     I missed the original idea of what is trying to be done, but it seems
like something the little used SHIFT command might be handy for (check that
manual!)
