If you happen to have a copy of DR DOS lying around, then copy XDEL.COM to
your DOS directory. It does what you're asking for with no fuss. It's also
handy for deleting an entire directory tree, directories and all. I used to
run DR DOS 6.0 a couple of years ago. Rather liked it actually. Although
I now run MS-DOS 6.2, I still use several of the DR DOS external commands.
They work just fine under MS-DOS. Some of the DR DOS external commands have
no MS-DOS equivalent. Some are just better. The DR DOS diskcopy, for
example, can copy a diskette to or from an image file on a hard disk. This
can be handy for a number of purposes. For example, you could diskcopy the
diskettes from your latest software purchase to disk image files on your hard
disk, then archive them to a tape backup. You could later recover a complete,
installable set of diskettes from the tape in the event of a disaster.

                                     Spaceman

... I haven't lost my mind; it's backed up on tape somewhere!
