To: John Davenport Scheuer RI> Hello Mic. Thanks for the reply/util. I just wish I had a clue on how RI> you came up w/ it. I've been going thru my book looking for scan codes RI> so I can do a little remapping or whatever, but the book I have only RI> gives me the basics, a-z, 0-9, Shift, etc. It does not show the scan RI> code for the combining of keys, such as Ctrl+C and the like. I think I RI> need another book. I have more books on computer related stuff than my JDS> The DOS 5.0 manual has a listing in the back for the scan codes of JDS> each character in each code page. You can find these listings in many JDS> other sources as well. However, this doesn't tell you which code you JDS> get for a combination keypress unless you know what character that JDS> makes on your current code page. I have a little utility called JDS> key.com and a batch file (ansicode.bat) that goes with it. Here is a JDS> typical run's output: JDS> Press any key . . . JDS> The code is 022. Press another key, or JDS> Press Esc to quit . . . SCANCODE.COM does about the same thing, but requires no batch file, and should work fine with 4DOS. If SCANCODE is entered without any parameters, it acts like a CHOICE type program and returns an errorlevel equal to the scan code of the first key(or key combination) pressed. If SCANCODE -? (or /?) is entered on the command line, SCANCODE enters a display mode, and displays the scan code all key combinations that have a scan code. Pressing the <Esc> key exits display mode. --[Cut here]---------------------------------------------------------- n SCANCODE.COM e100 32 E4 CD 16 80 FC 0 74 F7 8A C4 50 50 BB 80 0 43 80 3F 3F 74 7 80 e117 3F D 74 30 75 F3 BA 54 1 E8 2C 0 58 32 E4 BB A 0 B9 3 0 33 D2 F7 e12F F3 83 C2 30 52 E2 F6 B9 3 0 B4 2 5A CD 21 E2 FB BA D8 1 E8 9 0 58 e147 3C 1 75 B5 B4 4C CD 21 B4 9 CD 21 C3 54 68 65 20 6B 65 79 62 6F 61 e15E 72 64 20 73 63 61 6E 20 63 6F 64 65 20 66 6F 72 20 74 68 65 20 6B e174 65 79 20 70 72 65 73 73 65 64 20 69 73 20 24 D A 20 52 65 74 75 72 e18B 6E 73 20 6B 65 79 62 6F 61 72 64 20 73 63 61 6E 20 63 6F 64 65 20 e1A1 61 73 20 61 6E 20 65 72 72 6F 72 6C 65 76 65 6C 20 D A 20 56 69 72 e1B8 74 75 61 6C 4E 65 74 20 42 61 74 4D 61 67 69 63 20 2D 20 44 61 76 e1CE 69 64 20 41 64 61 6D 73 6F 6E D A 24 Rcx DB W Q crc-32 = 53bf4d59 SCANCODE.COM --[Cut here]---------------------------------------------------------- Save the script between the hash marks to an ASCII file.
