A while back someone asked how to use a printer with a com port, instead of the usual PRN output. I replied I had done that in the past, and I remembered it involving the use of the MODE command with the "P" command line parameter. But I checked using "Help mode" with DOS v5 and it suggested the "r" parameter. I just happen to be looking a the Apr 25,1989 issue of PC magazine. There it is on page 334: MODE COM1:9600,n,8,1,P So, I was right all along! At least for DOS v3.3. Maybe it changed to "r" with a later DOS version. I wonder if the person posting the original message got his printer working? ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 |
