The only reason I disagree with this approach is space. On a typical machine, the cluster size on the hard drive is 8K. When you write a batch file such as the above, it may only be a hundred bytes or so, but it takes up an entire 8K block of your hard drive. I don't think that makes sense in terms of space management. Yeah, hard drives are dirt cheap, but that doesn't mean you should waste them. That's the reason IBM programs are so large and do relatively little. People like Bill Gates and his programmers say "We can make it huge, hard drives are cheap". ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 |
