TT=>> For example, when my PATH got unmanageable early on, I got fed up an TT=>> put all by EXE & COM standalones in a C:\E ; Batchfiles in C:\B, etc. Or TT=>> E! and B! if the single letter directory names make you nervous. It saves TT=>> LOT of space in the PATH. Good luck! TT=>Well, with the versatility of 4DOS, my path statement only has 7 directorie TT=>in it. Maybe he should try that. TT=>Long path entry's can substantially reduce performance of a DOS machine, TT=>especially in a multitasking mode. Strive not for compression of the path, TT=>but for consiceness, and you'll achieve a faster, more efficient system. TT=>Remember, for each path presented, the system will search thru all the file TT=>in each prior to executing the next. You can try this too: write batch files to change your paths for the stuff you're doing at the time... ie. Path= c:\; \dos; \apps call it apps.bat and just run it and have your original path in another .bat file? Just a thought. --- QMPro 1.0 23-3223 Path = 'down there a ways and to the left' VQWK 6.20I The Vine Mailbox UK @44732000 +44-1732-464932 RushNET @73200 |
