Re: unneccessary files? > 1) I use DOS 6.20, but do not use dblspace. Is it therefore safe to delete > dblspace.bin file in my root dir? If you're absolutely, positively sure you're never gonna' use DBLSPACE, it's safe to delete from your root dir. You can also DEL all files from the DOS dir that have anything to do with DBLSPACE. ie: DEL DBLSPACE.* > 2) When winDOZE gets a corrupted swap file and stops, and I have to go back > and fix it, I get a *huge* disk-hogging 7 Meg or so file called 386spart.par > also in my root dir. Again, safe to delete that also? What is it, anyway? That huge disk-hogging file is the Windows virtual memory swap file. If you delete it, Windows will just ask you to put in a new one. Don't delete it. The corrupted file message probably comes up after you delete that file. If you don't want it there, change from a permanent to a temporary swap file. But if you do change to a temporary file, as your disk fills up the virtual memory will decrease. ... RAM - Rarely Adequate Memory ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 |
