Re: New Bass > what are you running thru? > i've got a standard hartke 40watter and it does pretty good. > Slew I've been running through an old Peavey Mace combo outfitted with two Carvin bass 12s. It's still a guitar amp though and the box cannot take it. I am getting ready to buy an Avatar 2X10 from the factory. Cost is 229.00 but it takes 700watts rms. A good cheap head is the Behringer Ultrabass which puts out 300 watts rms for only $219.00 This head cranks as much as an ampeg SVT and people tend to avoid it thinking it's cheap. But the company in Germany outsourced the production of this head to China and it's conservatively rated. If you go to HarmonyCentra.com and read the reviews, alot of working musicians like these heads so much they are buying two at a time. My other alternative is to get a rack and put components together for more wattage but I cannot afford this and most people are keeping it small these days and running a direct line into the PA and using a small amp for their backline monitor. The wife has given me the "go-ahead" to spend some money Jah Mysteria Majicka BBS: Baltimore MD USA telnet://majicka.at2k.org Fido 1:229/444 Running Virtual Advanced BBS Software AspectNet / AcNet 1@1410000 sysop Jahmas |
