Hey Eli, Squire guitars are crap. They are imported by Fender, not made by
Fender. Fender has 3 levels of quality right now. You can get a Strat made in
America, made in Mexico and made in China or Korea (Squire). I have played
some Made in Mexico Strats which I thought were halfway decent. There are
enough options to get one made out of decent wood too. The main thing I can
suggest here is; the better the quality of the guitar, the less it will
depreciate if you go to sell it. I cannot afford to get a used "Made in USA"
strat on Ebay because the speculators have driven the price up so much. If
you spend your money on a new or used Fender made in the USA, you can get
your money back if you decide to sell it. If you by a Squire, you won't get
crap if you try to sell it. Kind of like Harley Davidson if you know what I
mean. They keep their value.

FYI. I bought a 1961 Stratocaster back in 1971. It is made of ash and has a
natural finish just like a Louisville Slugger baseball bat. I paid $200.00
for it then. It is a "pre CBS Stratocaster" because Leo Fender was told he
had a fatal illness and to put his life in order. Leo sold Fender to CBS.
Anything made before CBS is highly valued. My near mint condition 1961 Strat
is now worth well over $10,000.00 to a collector. I play it constantly and
it's just right.

Jah
