To: GOODWRENCH #282 @1360001* Subject: simms G>hey all you computer dudes, what does a simms 4x36 mean? 4 megs times 36 bits (4 bytes) or 16 megabytes of RAM. 8 bits plus 1 parity bit for each byte means its IBM clone memory. 4 bytes across means you're looking at a 72 pin SIMM there. SIMM, BTW, is for Single In-line Memory Module, and they are notable in that they make a complete memory bank for 32 bit processors, which means you can add them one at a time. |
