Re: DOS Install from B drive > How do I get DOS 6.0 to install from B drive? Is there some trick I'm > missing? If you already have MS-Dos on your system try ASSIGN A:=B: then insert diskette in B: and type the name of startup file for the install. The diskette will act as if it was drive A: Then you reboot to get the operating system to work for after the install you 6.0 command.com trying with an older DOS operating system. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOUR DOS 6.0 SAYS INSTALL BY BOOTING THE INSTALL DISK. A second option is to check to see if the install program is .bat file. If this is the case, then you just all the occurrances A: to B: . Third option would be swap diskette drive cables (POWER OFF FIRST) and then run your system setup to change to drive configeration to the new one. I had to do this when install my 6.2 upgrade. At that time I didn't even think about the assign command, since I had just upgraded the hard drive and still had the case off. Good luck with the upgrade. Eugene |
