Green Day is punk? Does that make Weezer punk, too? Afterall, they
sound exactly alike. Granted neither are classic rock, but I wouldn't
consider them punk. Offspring maybe.
Anyway, what ever happened to bands releasing instrumentals? Are the
days gone that a band can make the Top 40 with a song sans lyrics? Some of
the best songs released in the past 40 years have been instrumentals, how
else could be explained the lasting effect of Wipe Out? Who DOESN'T like
Wipe Out? The song's now 33 years old (debuted in '62) but gets almost as
much play as any new stuff, maybe not always on the radio, but in cars, at
partys (beach, barbeque, whatever). And how many people have bought the Pulp
Fiction soundtrack based on Dick Dale's opening "Misirlou"?
