Re: VSMTP/VIRC32/PHP 1. Install VSMTP32 and execute it. 2. Click Settings, and choose VSMTP32 Configuration. 3. Click the SMTP Client tab at the top. 4. Put a check for "Enable SMTP Client" to turn on outgoing email. 5. For SMTP Server Hostname, enter your ISP's SMTP server (mail.charter.net). 6. Click the Miscellaneous tab. Enable "Perform Daily Maintenance". Click OK. 7. Click Settings, and choose VADV Internet Configuration. 8. Enter your domain name for your system name (chris-co.org). 9. Enter a valid directory for the spool dir (ex: d:\va\inet\spool). 10. Max Receive Packet should be 2048 bytes. 11. Check "Strip RFC822 Headers". 12. Click "Remote Systems". 13. The top entry must be the one for your ISP. Edit it, or if you do not have any entries, click Insert. Choose the top entry and click "Edit". 14. The remote system name is your ISP's domain (charter.net). 15. Ignore Remote System Phone. Enter a valid directory for Outgoing SMTP Dir. This is where VSMTP32 checks for outgoing mail. Ex: d:\va\inet\smtp 16. Might as well enter an Outgoing NNTP Dir as well incase you want to use it later. Ex: d:\va\inet\nntp 17. Leave the rest at the defaults. Click OK. Click Close. Click OK. 18. If your system uses any other domains, then click Settings and enter them in the Secondary Domains form. That is it for setting it up. Make sure the directories you specified actually do exist. Your domain MX record should be set to send mail to your IP address. Make sure port 25 inbound is open and routed to your BBS computer. When you send email from the BBS, it must be tossed first (done automatically by VADV32). After it is tossed, it will appear in the smtp directory. VSMTP32 monitors this directory for outgoing mail. It may take up to a minute for it to begin sending it. Incoming mail is handled by VSMTP32. It will automatically process it. VADV32 will have to toss it before it is shown in your mailbox.
