1. What version are you running? The most current build is 2.1.050322
2. Can you see the main VADV32 window?
3. If yes to #2, is the "minimize to system tray" option enabled in VADV32's
configuration? If no to #2, terminate VADV32, delete the VADV32.DAT file from
your VADV directory and reload it.. then check to see if the tray option is
enabled.

at http://vadv32.at2k.org/downloads/archive.php

Let me know if you still have problems with the tray icon.
