Oh, they're calling the Explorer model "Police Interceptor", too. I was 
confused as how you could make the old Crown Vic platform AWD.

They *can* go 80+ mph in the snow/ice - they just better not plan on 
stopping.

My last experience in the snow was in my Prius with 3 passengers and myself. 
In retrospect, I should have gotten new tires first - I had about 6mm of 
tread on my car.

A 4 hour drive under sunny conditions took 12 hours, and the snow was coming 
down so hard that on the road to my cabin, I got stuck with cable chains 
going up a hill and had to rock it to get moving again. My car was so low it 
was snowplowing!

Now, we have a 7-passenger AWD SUV with H/T tires. :)
