Well get together with the other guy and find out whats wrong.
send him your logs and your configuration information.

I've had problems with feeds and even though i'm an idiot my end has always
been setup correctly.

This stuff isn't that hard. It always ended up that the feed was doing something
weird or they ran an unstable system that wasn't up all the time.  Over the
years i've seen a lot of people that are taking on responsiblities that they
won't or can't handle.

If your feed is not responsive and shrugs it off, drop him.
