Hello, Jas!

Replying to a message of Jas Hud to Digimaus:

JH> well dashers can't see that 0 tip. but we can figure it out if they
JH> want us to get a mcdonalds order for 4 dollars.

I figure it this way: if I can afford a food delivery, I can afford a tip also.
Last night, I ordered a sandwich and some past from Dominos. Not cheap on my
budget but it was my one "treat" for the month. I still gave the driver a 20%
tip.

I normally try to give all drivers a 20% tip. If I have cash, I'll give them
the tip directly (no need getting corporate involved).

JH> what doordash usually does is pair up a notip order with a good
JH> tipping order to get it done. it can be from totally different
JH> restaurants. the delivery locations can be no where near eachother.

I've heard that before and have been told all it means is the driver breaks even
on that run.

JH> i'm pretty sure doordash will get a class action lawsuit or 2
 JH> eventually.

California will probably be the first.

JH> i'm not so sure they can do that because they are contractors.
JH> i also have the ability to choose an hourly flat rate with tips (but
JH> they warn tips might be less) or the regular way. the hourly can go
JH> from 14-16-19/hr depending on the time.

Ah, a 1099 guy. How companies get out of paying money or providing benefits. I
used to be a 1099 guy in IT but I was making between $50-$70 an hour (average).
16% of all monies went into a special bank account to pay my SS tax since I was
a sole propriator(sp?) business.

JH> not sure if i'm going to be doing this in the winter/snow because
JH> roads are horrible here. last feb i had something in the road poke up
JH> and rip off my tailpipe.

I hope I can find a way to get a car soon. It's hell for me to get around
during the winter without a car. It's just bad enough walking down my access
ramp bit I keep calcium chloride de-icer handy (won't cause oxidation on
aluminum nor rust in iron-based metals).
